Experienced guides escort riders twice daily along the 13km circular route that takes about two hours to complete. The trail leads through beautiful fynbos coastal vegetation, towards the Gamtoos river with breathtaking views from the dunes and finally returning along a 6 km stretch of deserted beach where riders can have an exhilarating gallop on the sand.
The guides escort every group and assist riders in selecting horses just right for their respective capabilities. This outride is ideal for intermediate and advanced riders, though in quiet times, we also accommodate first timers and beginners. Experienced riders can choose not to go with a guide and have the freedom to explore the valley at their own pace.

Papiesfontein Beach Horse Rides
Is there a 10 out of 5 stars review? This would be it! This was my son's first horse ride and this was an unbelievable way to start! By the end he was cantoring! One of the three guides really took care of my son the entire time which meant that I could enjoy the ride without worrying he would fall off! On top of this - it's a beautiful beach! This was no nose- to-ass ride that I am used to in the USA. I really got to RIDE! I cannot wait to come back! - Deirdre
I loved this activity so much! Riding a horse on the beach was one of my dreams, and I am so glad I could fulfill this one in South Africa with Papiesfontein. The horse I was riding, named Rex, was very sweet and beautiful, and the guides were very kind. The landscape was amazing, not only the beach but also the sand dunes. I will definitely come back! - Wouters
