Experienced guides escort riders twice daily along the 13km circular route. The trail takes about two hours to complete, leading through beautiful fynbos coastal vegetation, towards the Gamtoos river with breathtaking views from the dunes and finally returning along a 6 km stretch of deserted beach. Here on this isolated beach, riders can canter their mounts in the shallows or have an exhilarating gallop on the sand.
The trail provides magnificent views of the area and affords ample opportunity to spot a variety of bird species, tortoises, bushbuck, plant and marine life. Imagine whale watching from horseback!
You may see seals basking in the sun and the rare African Black Oystercatcher is always to be found near the Gamtoos river mouth.
The guides escort every group and assist riders in selecting horses just right for their respective capabilities. This outride is ideal for intermediate and advanced riders, though in quiet times, we also accommodate first timers and beginners. Experienced riders can choose not to go with a guide and have the freedom to explore the valley at their own pace.

Riders of different experience will have the same departure time but will have horses that suit their skill and group will be split into rider capabilities during the trail

We thoroughly enjoyed our horse ride. The horses were well-trained, calm, and easy to ride, making the experience enjoyable even for less experienced riders. The instructions were clear, and our trail guide regularly checked in to make sure everyone was comfortable and doing well throughout the ride. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, adding to an already wonderful experience. I had an amazing ride! The horses are well kept, look and feel very healthy and are up for a good run if you let them! The trail is beautiful and the guides are friendly. Just at the beach I felt like the guides did not control the situation, some horses just took off and when mine went with them I could not stop her in her race! So that was a challenge, luckily I could manage but the second gallop I stayed behind the guide of the beginners group to avoid an other race. I did have an intermediate to advanced level horse with a strong will ;-) Al in all I had a great ride! - Tinha
The horse ride was a wonderful experience through the Dunes along the beach. We had 3 great guides who supported us and even made nice memory photos so we didn't have to bother ourselves. The group was mixed but it worked out very well. I can really recommend this tour! Nanda - Nanda
